The fiction market has reached a new age with todays technology. Writers are beginning to market themselves via the web. Stephen King was a leader in this endeavor when he wrote "The Plant" and sold it via his web page.
Here I offer some of my writings, from the short short Fatal Exception: Kiss of Death to much longer works. Browse through and see if something strikes your fancy. You'll find the same story as you would in a magazine or bookstore, but much cheaper since there is no middle man to be paid!
None of my stories are pornographic or filled with unnecessary expletives :) Please enjoy and feel free to give me feedback!
Ghostly Encounter
by

This is the story of a boy trying to do a good deed and a frightening mistaken identity. It involves the dark of night, a cemetary, a hair-raising bike ride, and the trouble that only a young boy can get into.
Excerpt:
In the ghostly moonlight the neighborhood seemed such a dark and spooky place. He pedaled hard and fast, feeling safe on his bike. Nothing could catch him as he tore down the street like a comet. He flew through the night air, bounced over cracks and potholes, and felt freer than he ever had in the daylight when the street was filled with people. He grinned with the fullness of it. Then the cemetery came into view....

Grand Opening won First Place in the Fireside Chat Contest on Writing.com.
This is a police Drama that centers around a detective who begins to suspect his own department has been scammed by a woman that they'd all supported when her child was very ill - or so they'd been led to believe!
Excerpt:
Mrs. Zelmer’s words kept turning over and over in his mind as he strolled the couple of blocks back to the precinct. Again, something just didn’t feel right.
Paul Delaney had been on the force for 17 years and was beginning to wonder if he’d just seen too much. He thought about Mrs. Zelmer and her baby all morning and decided it was time to make a discreet phone call to his old friend, Dr. Jack Mercer. Jack was a hospital pathologist and Delaney had a couple of favors to pull in.

Fatal Exception: Kiss of Death
by S.Tilghman Hawthorne

Fatal Exception: Kiss of Death was accepted to be published in an anthology but unfortunately, due to the illness of the author, the anthology was never published. Just one of those things that's not too uncommon in the writing world!
This story is a short, short piece of fiction that was inspired by an error I actually received on my computer that said Fatal Exception:Kiss of Death!
Yeow!! That sounded pretty scarey to me and inspired a tongue-in-cheek story about a man who abused his computer and the penalty he had to pay for it.

Excerpt:
Hal unpacked the new computer with excitement. He thought it was cute that the box was decorated like an orangutan. He’d resisted buying one for a long time, not wanting to look like a complete fool since he knew nothing about computers. But the man at the store had assured him that he’d have no trouble with this one. He set it up carefully, referring to the manual often. ....
Merrith

This is a Fantasy - my favorite genre because it opens the doors to anything your imagination can fathom! I really enjoyed writing this one because it has an underlying theme of goodness and hope.
The story centers around a prophecy that foretells of the birth of a girl who will grow-up and topple the power of the current religion and turn the world on it's ear. Of course, this cannot be allowed to happen - but can it be stopped?
Excerpt:
The moon’s silver glow washed the town of Siler with a cold light. One sleek pale ray stole through Merrith's window to caress her soft cheek. She slept with the careless abandon of innocence, wrapped in the knowledge that her world was warm and safe.
Gef followed the moonbeam to her window. With his knife, he easily pried the latch, which sprang open with a solid click. For a moment he stood still, but heard nothing stir from within. With a grimace, he slid the window open. His gentle movements were unimaginable for a man with such large thick fingers.
With a muted grunt he pulled himself through the opening. It was a close fit.
As he waited for his eyes to adjust to the dimness, he listened intently for any sound, but heard none. Approaching the bed, he stood over the sleeping child for a moment, pressing the point of the knife he still held against his large thumb.
